Abstract

The ongoing war in the Gaza Strip has created severe humanitarian, psychological, and educational challenges, resulting in widespread displacement, disruption of essential services, and extensive damage to educational and health infrastructure. This study aimed to identify the psychological and educational needs of individuals affected by the war, evaluate the effectiveness of existing support programs, and propose future intervention policies guided by the objectives of the Qur’an and the principles of Maqasid al-Sharia. A quantitative descriptive survey design was employed, and data were collected from 305 participants using a structured questionnaire. The findings revealed that housing and shelter, food and water, healthcare, psychological support, and educational resources constitute the most urgent needs of affected populations. Infrastructure reconstruction and economic recovery emerged as the highest priorities for long-term rehabilitation. Participants also reported low satisfaction with the effectiveness of current educational and psychosocial support programs. Furthermore, high levels of anxiety, fear, sleep disturbances, and psychological distress were observed alongside significant educational disruptions, including school absenteeism, declining educational quality, and limited access to learning resources. Despite these challenges, strong indicators of resilience were evident through religious faith, family support, social connectedness, and continued motivation toward education. The study concludes that sustainable recovery in Gaza requires an integrated policy framework that combines reconstruction, educational rehabilitation, economic empowerment, and culturally responsive psychological support. Such efforts should be implemented through coordinated partnerships among governmental, humanitarian, educational, and community institutions to promote long-term recovery, resilience, and human well-being.
